Building A unified architecture for open RAN-enabled distributed,
scalable and sustainable
6G networks

unity-6G

UNITY-6G is an EC-funded project that focuses on tackling energy efficiency and sustainability challenges in networked services.

It leverages artificial intelligence, machine learning, and distributed ledger technologies to secure data exchange and foster trust between parties.

The project also explores various network access technologies, including non-terrestrial networks, non-public networks, and approaches like open radio access networks.

The primary goal of UNITY-6G is to develop energy-efficient, integrated network infrastructures that support the convergence and interoperability of heterogeneous domains, such as wireless networking, IoT, and mobile and distributed computing.

Use Cases

UNITY-6G has carefully selected four key use cases that align with the ambitious goals of the project. These are:

Sustainable networks for disaster handling

Immersive Experience with Real-time XR/holographic communications

Digital Twin for Integrated 6G Network Evaluation

Multi-RAT O-RAN enabled NPN for supporting time-sensitive applications for Industry 4.0
