
Hispasat is a Spanish satellite operator and a key driver of innovation in the Spanish aerospace sector, bridging the digital divide and promoting the sustainable development of society. It is the main communications bridge between Europe and the Americas as a provider of broadband and connectivity services through its companies in Spain and Latin America. It is also a leader in the broadcasting and distribution of audiovisual content in Spanish and Portuguese. These activities make it one of the world’s leading companies by revenue in its sector.
Hispasat supports mobile providers in delivering connectivity, whether it’s 2G, 4G, or the latest 5G. Notably, it is pioneering the integration of different satellite types to provide more robust and reliable connections.
Through its participation in the IRIS² initiative, Hispasat is also committed to secure communications. Additionally, the company is involved in projects that aim to integrate satellite and terrestrial networks for even better connectivity, especially for emergency response and providing broadband to everyone, everywhere.
Hispasat will contribute to several Work Packages throughout the development of the project. Its contributions include defining scenarios and use cases, establishing requirements, conducting market analysis, and developing the exploitation plan for satellite integration. It will also provide Ku-band capacity and participate in the Proof of Concept (PoC).
Hispasat will provide space capacity for the PoC using its operational satellites in its position at 30°W as a satellite operator.
UNITY-6G focuses on integrating terrestrial and non-terrestrial networks for 6G. Participating in the project allows Hispasat to be at the forefront of this development, ensuring its strategic position for the future of satellite communications and their convergence with terrestrial networks. Additionally, Hispasat gains valuable 6G technology knowledge and experience through collaboration with other project partners. Lastly, participating in a collaborative research project like UNITY-6G fosters innovation and allows Hispasat to contribute to the advancement of satellite technology.
