On October 7–9, 2025, the UNITY-6G consortium gathered in Sierre, Switzerland, for its third face-to-face General Assembly, hosted by project partner HES-SO (The University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Western Switzerland). The three-day meeting brought together representatives from all partner organizations to exchange updates, align on ongoing activities, and strengthen collaboration across all project dimensions.
The program featured dedicated slots for all project work packages. This structure provided a comprehensive overview of UNITY-6G’s progress and upcoming milestones, ensuring that all activities remain connected and strategically aligned.
A key focus of the General Assembly was the in-depth discussion on the UNITY-6G architecture, which offered an opportunity for partners to critically reflect on the current design, refine details, and collectively define the next steps. These exchanges reinforced UNITY-6G’s holistic approach, where different strands of research and development converge toward a shared vision.
Another highlight was the dedicated workshop on ethics covering the general principles of research ethics and project governance; the protection of individuals, with a focus on privacy, informed consent, and transparency; the protection of personal data and the ethical management of information; as well as the ethical implications of Artificial Intelligence, including the assessment of potential high-risk systems and the related mitigation measures. Led by Carmela Occhipinti, the project’s External Ethics Advisor, this interactive session has also fostered an in-depth dialogue about how to ensure that UNITY-6G’s innovations are aligned with ethical principles and societal expectations.
The General Assembly in Sierre not only advanced UNITY-6G’s technical agenda but also reinforced the strong team spirit that drives the project forward—underscoring the value of open dialogue, collaboration, and collective ambition.
A warm thank you goes to our hosts at HES-SO for welcoming the UNITY-6G consortium and making this meeting possible!
