On February 20, 2025, UNITY-6G participated in the seminar “Pioneering Sustainable, Scalable, Intelligent and Integrated 6G Networks”, hosted by the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Kista, Sweden. The event was organized by Prof. Emil Björnson, who invited UNITY-6G to contribute to the discussion. The project was represented by the Coordinator, Dr. Engin Zeydan, Senior Researcher in the Services as Networks (SaS) group at the Telecommunications Technology Center of Catalonia (CTTC) in Barcelona, Spain.
During his presentation, Dr. Zeydan explained how UNITY-6G is pioneering the development of a sustainable, scalable, intelligent, and integrated 6G network infrastructure, leveraging cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, distributed ledger technology, semantic communication, and digital network twinning. He highlighted how the project’s research is driving the creation of an AI-native network architecture that enhances efficiency and responsiveness while prioritizing environmental sustainability through the integration of renewable energy sources and advanced network management techniques.
Dr. Zeydan also provided an overview of the UNITY-6G architecture, designed to support diverse network environments, including integrated terrestrial and non-terrestrial networks, non-public networks, Open RAN, and edge/cloud systems. He explained how UNITY-6G is evolving into a real-time, state-aware network, integrating decentralized applications to meet the strict timing and performance demands of next-generation connectivity. Additionally, he introduced the project’s use cases, demonstrating the project’s expected impact across various domains.
The seminar provided an excellent platform to showcase UNITY-6G’s contributions to next-generation networks and to engage with leading experts working toward a sustainable and intelligent 6G future.
